The inaugural class in virtual production in the College of Performance, Visualization and Fine Arts featured a fairy tale re-created in an immersive world.

Students will have access to four virtual production stages composed of large LED walls that display computer-generated imagery to create immersive worlds where subjects can see and react to what is happening around them.

Synapse will provide expertise in designing, procuring, building and training for four virtual production stages in Bryan-College Station and in Fort Worth. Each stage will have a different design based upon specific use and the physical shape of the stage location.

The institute will be based on the Bryan-College Station campus with an extension at the new Texas A&M-Fort Worth campus.

Twenty members of the leadership team in the Texas A&M School of Performance, Visualization and Fine Arts traveled to Fort Worth in January to get a look and feel for the new Texas A&M-Fort Worth campus.

The news of Texas A&M’s Visualization program expanding into the university’s developing Fort Worth campus sparked a particularly exuberant reaction from Aggie graduate and visual effects expert David Parrish.

Special item by the 88th Texas Legislature brings $25 million for the institute’s faculty, staff and equipment.
